Dorfin Daze

This is just one dog's look at life, love, and the occasional roll in cat poop. Though there are millions of stories out there, this is a tail from the point of view of a 6lb. Pomeranian. My name is Woodie the Dorfin and welcome to my world. PS. For those of you unfamiliar with blogs, the earliest is at the bottom, and the very first items are in the archives. It is a good idea to start there on the first visit. Also, fill free to comment or ask questions. I will bark... write back.

Time moves on... slowly

Hi,

It’s been a while since I’ve written. It’s not my fault… really. As I’ve told you many times, a human has to do the actual typing because my paws keep slipping off the keys. Therein lies the problem. Hmm… maybe if I let my nails get longer.

Papa and Mama have had a lot of problems this year. She had back surgery and still has pain. She really keeps the chiropractor busy. He was in a car accident, later hurt his arm, and had other medical problems, too many to mention. For fairly young people (7 & 9 in dog years), they surely are falling apart.

Then there are my nephews. Racer, Gordy, & the lively Rocky. Yes, Rocky is back but that is a story for another day.

Having youngsters around is supposed to keep you young. I’m not sure. They do keep me running, and maybe I need the exercise, but it can be very tiring. I will turn 3 this year and sometimes it feels like 8 or 9.

Mama & Papa had the back yard fenced in and that added a new dimension to play time. I know they did it so they didn’t have to walk with us 12 times a day, but it has increased the actively level; especially when we play “race around the hot tub”.

Most of the time I can keep up, but sometimes… I think I’ll take a nap now.

Later,

Woodie

Racer's looking for a good loving home!

We call him "Racer", because of his stripes, but he is so intelligent he will adapt to whatever you call him. He is so lovable you will fall for him immediately. He will probably weigh about 8 lbs, like his father. He really would like to be in a good home with people who love him. His human Mama will surely miss him because she delivered him, and has taken very could care of him and his brothers.

My Nephews

Hi Everyone,The births occurred 3 weeks ago today these are my new "nephew's".

Cinnamon has been a darn good Mama, especially considering she had no training and I sure am no good at this stuff. In fact, they scare the heck out of me.

Papa call’s them from left to right: Footloose, Speed Racer (Racer for short), and Pom Lite. Of course there is a story behind each of them.

Poor Footloose! When he started to come into this world, he was a breech birth, and one little paw came out first. Cinna reached to help before she could be stopped and she injured his paw. He is fine now (minus a couple toe-nails) and is the nicest boy in the group.

By the way, I forgot to tell you, Buddy is a real stud. They are all boys.

Racer has a white strip on his forehead, a white diamond on his belly, and white stripe on the back of each fore leg, hence the name.

Pom Lite is going to be a champagne white. Mama says he is kind and gentle like me. I think she wants to keep him.

I know she is really going to be upset when two of them leave in 4 or 5 weeks, but I’m not. They are getting too much attention as far as I am concerned. Mama & Papa keep telling me I am number 1 and always will be, but I wonder. I really wonder.

The Blessed Event is Near!

Hey, I’m going to be an Uncle. (I can’t be a Papa, I lost my doghood when I was very young). But… Cinnamon and Sir Buddy have combined their efforts and she is with puppy, as they say in the Bible.

It is hard to tell when, but sometime between February 2nd & Valentine’s Day, the blessed event will occur.

Mama is simply gahgah, agog, you know what I mean. She has made Cinna a birthing closet and has read everything she could on the internet. Heck, she even helped them when they were doing It, you know the thing necessary for all of this. She held them while they were together, screaming. Cinna is staying with us during this time, so Mama can take care of her. Oh, she’s is so pampered, and of course I am so jealous.

Papa simply shakes his head. He loves us, but at least for a time, there will be a few more mouths to feed. Of course Cinna will take care of that in the beginning. She’s already eating for 4 or more.

Papa feels there are 3 puppies, Mama’s hoping for more. We’ll see who’s right. Check back in a couple weeks and find out.

They're Here, Not Just on a Plane!

It’s been a while since I could get Papa to write some things for me. He and Mama have been a little under the weather as they say. Things have been occasionally exciting though.

A couple of weeks ago Papa and I were outside, you know, so I could do my business, when we heard Mama scream at the top of her lungs. We ran back to the house and found her curled up in her chair with her knees up to her chest and her feet off the floor.

When she could finally speak, she cried, “Snake! Snake!”

Papa looked around and found this cute little red, black, and yellow snake about 10” long curled up near the door. He got a glass and tried to catch it but it kept stretching and getting out. He finally got it safely outside and let it go. Papa says snakes are our friends.

Later he figured out that Mama had gotten some plants from a nursery in Georgia and the snake came along for the ride. It was a corn snake which can actually climb things so putting him in a glass was a real trial. Hopefully he will make it through the Baltimore winter and I’ll see him again next year. That would be good for a little barking. LOL.
